Duncan M. James has been a resident of Mendocino County since 1967 when he began working in the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. James became the Mendocino County District Attorney in 1969 and held that office through 1978.


While serving as Mendocino County District Attorney, his office also performed all of the functions of County Counsel through 1976. As County Counsel, he represented the: Mendocino County Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, and Personnel Commission; all of the county elected officials, commissions and offices; and, all of the school districts and most of the special services districts throughout Mendocino County.


Since entering into private practice in 1979, the emphasis of Duncan's practice has emphasized litigation, primarily in the fields relating to business, real estate, construction, personal injury, insurance bad faith, criminal, probate and family law.
